Soccer for the Win

If you and I know each other more than just on collegial terms, then you probably know I am not much of a sports guy. I never have been, and I don’t think I ever will.  But that is not to say that I don’t like going to a game once and a while and cheering on for whoever is winning.  I have attended a few baseball, hockey, and football games (somewhat a rite of passage when you live in the Hammer).  It seems only proper that the residents of Hamilton, must cheer for, and show up for your hometown team, the Tiger-Cats.  Now Soccer, hmmm….. can’t say I have ever been to a game before, and I really don’t know much about It beyond, two teams must kick the ball into the nets on the opposite side of the field.

Through the good graces of Becky and a friend at the gym, we got the chance to attend our first Hamilton Forge Football Club game. Yes, you are correct, I said football Club and meant soccer, and we do have a team right here in the streets of Hamilton. Who knew?

We were treated to a bit of luxury for our inaugural game, having club seat tickets were fancy, which was nice as it got a bit cold as the sun went down. If you have ever attended a live sports match with me, you will also know that my presence always seems to make the game go on well past when it should be over. Overtime, extra-inning, and well now kickoff matches seem to be how all the games I see, end.  Lucky for us, and the city, the Forge ruled the day, and it was a great evening.
