On the Hight Seas

View from our stateroom aboard the Celebrity Apex (where the ocean meets the sky)

There was a period of time over the past two years (more commonly known around our house as the COVID times), that I didn’t really think, that we would be able to make this cruise happen.  When we arrived home in 2020, after our last cruise, we had booked this vacation, and well we all know what happened after that.  Two plus years of COVID pandemic, stay-at-home orders, work-from-home mandates, vaccinations, mask-wearing, social distancing, return-to-work regulations…. did I miss anything?  But no wear in any of that was vacationing abroad, and we had to postpone our 2021 Celebrity Cruise, two times. The first because we were deep into the pandemic, and the second because it was just not safe to travel yet.

But it’s unbelievable, here we are on day 3 of our cruise, and I am writing this week’s caption.  I have literally just snapped this photo to enter it into the archive here. This is what tranquillity and peace look like, and I wish that everyone could experience it the way we get to.  Looking out our balcony window and seeing where the ocean meets the sky, you get a sense of just how small we really are, and how big the world is.

It’s taken us a bit to get here, but it’s worth all the effort, to now, be relaxing in our stateroom. A drive from Hamilton to Buffalo New York, then fly to Fort Lauderdale Florida.  Some margaritas in Florida and an overnight stay so we didn’t have any chance of missing the departure on Saturday. At around 12:30 pm Saturday, we boarded the Celebrity Apex which will take us to Mexico, Belize and the Cayman Islands.

I can’t wait to share some photos next week, but I must run now I hear a martini calling my name.

Where is Jesse, he seems to always hide from the camera!
