But is just a car

One of the most chilling sounds, is that of screeching tires, and the coming together of metal of two objects into a dead stop. That sound raises the hairs on your neck and makes you wince at the sound of what just happened.  You don’t even need to witness the site of it. Such is what happened this past week in front of the house.

We had been talking recently that my car was getting to that age where it’s going to start costing more for repairs than it’s worth [not that we have had many issues with it up to this point]. The discussions of what I want to start to look at, what would be nice to have and setting the date of next year to replace the Nissan Altima.  What I didn’t know was that the date was going to be pushed up to a much sooner timeframe.

The picture this week is what happens when an impaired reckless driver speeds away from a neighboring street accident [they caused], takes a corner going way too quickly and slammed into a vintage car.  That then starts a chain reaction of the vintage car being launched into my car. At first sight, I really didn’t think there was much damage, but as the day went on, and the days went on, we came to find out that the cost of repairs is more than it was worth. – If you are wondering the driver of the stolen car and his passengers are fine and were caught fleeing from the scene about 10 minutes later. My neighbour’s vintage rambler, well that is indeed a sad story.

For me It’s a bittersweet moment, on one hand, I am going to be sad to see the Altima go. I do love that luxury leather seats, Bose Sound system, and spacious car and will miss it dearly. It was the first car that I felt like I had head and leg room in and drove smoothly.  But at the same time, it’s time to get something new, transition into a SUV and get myself into something that meets the needs of what I want today.   Goodbye old friend, we have had some great times together, long road trips across this great country and I will miss our Sundays in the sun where I washed, waxed, and made you shine. You have served me well!
